Woke up this morning to the realization that the future is now
by campaign of hate inas the title of the thread says, i woke up this morning realizing more than ever that we should, each and every one of us, live for today and what we can accomplish today, rather than constantly looking toward the future.. i'm not implying we shouldn't make plans, plans are healthy and advisable, especially if you have healthy commitments.. but i realized the reason why nothing in my life ever seems to get done, is because i put things off, and look ahead 10 years down the line, then a few days later realize how much work needs to be put into that said task, then i don't do anything.
and so the cycle seems to repeat itself.. what i think i'm trying to say is that worthwhile endeavors that have a reward at the end, but take many years to get there, need to be challenged one day at a time.
i now understand that to get to where we want to be 10 years down the line, we need to focus on today and the hard work that needs to be out into a task one day at a time.

Great responses, thanks.
This forum is really helping me find the right type of balance in my life.
Prologos, that's a nice analogy. Enjoy the ride of life, gain pleasure from it, but at the same time, don't be disappointed when it's over, because hills don't go on forever.
I think what the WT feeds us is a nice thought in all reality, living forever in peace in a Utopian society, with perfection of your senses to really be one with the earth. But that's all it is, a nice idea. It's another thing actually believing with your whole life force it's actually going to happen.
I didn't understand at first when i read this forum, that some of you guys were upset, and angry, maybe even slightly bitter dare i say it. But my understanding now is that it's understandable, entire lives have been robbed, and that is something you can never get back. WT has basically robbed so many of a life, to push it's own agenda. Companies do it all the time with employees, but employees usually get a wage slip at the end of the month, and have something tangible for their effort. To do it in the guise of religion & godliness, and to not give anything back to its adherents, that is pretty sick.

Yeah, it's pretty sick in all honesty.
Everything in WT land is "short term" goal based, and most "goals" that you can achieve, are achieved in 6-12 months with little to no effort.
I'm pretty sure that's why long term success that actually takes real work, to me has been quite a scary prospect.

I now understand that to get to where we want to be 10 years down the line, we need to focus on today and the hard work that needs to be out into a task one day at a time. you can't go from 0-100% overnight. We need to slowly improve 0.01% a day, one step at a time.
This has been a huge sticking point for me, but i'm starting to trace it back to the WT belief system. I'm not entirely sure how, could you guys lend your thoughts?

If kids start getting baptized at 8-12, there is going to be a s*** load of dfings and reprovings in the next 5-10 years.
Teenagers are teenagers after all, baptized or not.

GB says, "Our way of worship will soon be altered."
by Separation of Powers inmy mom called me yesterday to ask how i was doing.
i hadn't seen her in a while, so it was nice to hear her voice.
we went through the motions of jw small talk and then she started telling me about her co visit from last week.

Maybe we might actually literally start to worship the GB...
or maybe not

I would like to give my opinion of each GB member. i Would probably split them into 3 Groups.
Group 1 - The Hardliners
Tony the 3rd: He knows exactly what hes's doing and saying. Defiantly has an agenda. Pretty nasty piece of work if any of his rants of late are to go by.
David Splane: Pretty much similar Tony the 3rd, but he seems to be a bit more old fashioned than the rest, as one comment he made during annual meeting about using real bible instead of tablet. I would imagine him and Tony are vying for "top dog"
Sam Herd: Also a nasty piece of work. I also feel he is a clever guy, as you would never have gotten to GB member, being mixed raced, in the era he grew up. And clever people usually can think up clever ideas. (or not so clever, depends which angle you look at it)
A common thread among these 3 are they are outspoken and bigoted. These 3 would probably be the guys who have the "new ideas", and beat the other 4 into submission
Group 2- The Blinded
Stephen Lett: This guy is quite clearly mentally unstable, and i also think he believes this stuff 100%. Thinks he's gods spokesman and all that. Apparently all those faces he pulls isn't an act. Apparently he's done it for years. He would never become GB member if he was in the same position back then as he is now. NOT.A.CHANCE
Loesch: He looks like he really doesn't give a S*** any more, and wouldn't be surprised if he absconded back to Austria under the guise of being "persecuted" by lawyers wanting him to take the stand. Wouldn't shock me either if he was a non believer. Just on the gravy train.
Mark Sanderson: Popular with singletons and younger people. Seems quite friendly, although in 20 years time (if he dosnt have a heart attack...have you seen the size of him?!?!) he will defiantly be "top dog". Even so, i think he could be in the same waters as Jeff Jackson...
Group 3- Reformer
Jeff Jackson: If there was any guy, i think, capable of reforming the WT it's this guy. Still pretty blinded, but he does look like he's a bit of a loose cannon, smiling and joking and looks like he would be good to get along with. Maybe he'll be another Ray Franz, maybe the GB WT would kill him off before it gets to that. But that's delving into the realms of conspiracy theory.
Just my thoughts.

New forum: one month progress report
by Simon inwell, we survived the first month at least!
yes, the new forum is now 1 month old.. of course there have been some issues and i'm grateful that people have been patient while i worked on them.
a big thank-you to everyone who's been patient, have provided useful feedback or just been willing to adapt to something new during the transition.. i've also made some improvements along the way and am fairly happy with how things are from a basic functionality and performance perspective so it's time to start looking at some of the new features i've been planning.

I quite liked reading the posts in the old forum, when it showed the post count and join date of the member. Don't have that any more. Only been posting since the new site, so cant compare in that aspect.
So post count count and join date would be good.
EDIT: Forget that, worked it out.

JW Blood Doctrine Constitutes Idolatry
by TTATTelder inif you sacrifice your life for something - that is devotion to the highest degree and can in certain context constitute worship.. .
as has been discussed many times on this forum, the blood doctrine of being willing to sacrifice life to honor a symbol of life (blood) is ludicrous (see this excellent thread by cofty http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/273265/my-explanation-why-they-got-wrong-about-blood-using-only-nwt?page=1).
it is also idolatry.... .

Heisenberg. There are many things in this life to die for. But God is not one of them. God would not want us to sacrifice our self for a belief. Life is too precious. Your illustration of a child is flawed, as this is human nature and you would be a lunatic if you didn't try and save the child or anyone else for that matter.
Which is what doctors try to do right? save our life by any means possible?
